We are able to support presenting students with a limited travel and accommodation subsidy funded by the Svalbard Science Forum. The aim is to encourage new students and early career scientists (masters and PhD students) to present at the workshop in the unique and immersive setting of Svalbard and network with other more senior researchers. Up to 3,000 NOK (about € 310, ₤ 260, US$ 345) per student can be applied for on a first-come-first-served basis.
Eligibility
Only students presenting talks or posters are eligible. There is a limited amount of money available, so students will be provisionally assigned the bursary on a first-come-first-served basis. The award will only be made available after you have had your topic-appropriate abstract accepted and you have attended the Arctic Workshop in June. A certificate of confirmation and details for claiming the money will be in your welcome pack on arrival at the Svalbard Science Centre for the conference. Provisional confirmation (contingent on your attendence and appropriate abnstract) will be provided in your registration email.
Students present or resident in Svalbard and/or registered at UNIS are not eligible for this travel support bursary.
See the online registration form to apply.
Unfortunately, due to the current situation between Russia and Ukraine and the restrictions placed on the use of Norwegian state science funding, we cannot offer presenting-student travel support to students affiliated with Russian institutions. However, students who are Russian citizens at institutions outside of the Russian Federation are eligible.
Student Accommodation
Limited single or shared student accommodation is available in the new Elvesletta student housing complex. This can be booked by student attendees for a minimum of one week (sorry, week-long bookings only) through organization@aw2022.org during or after your registration. If you are a student registrant, we will contact you about the accommodation available at Elvesletta, the costs, and how to book it.
